San Diego, USA

As part of a recent team meetup, I travelled to San Diego, USA. Having visited San Diego a few times previously, I somewhat knew what to expect and what beautiful coastal scenery would await! It didn’t disappoint! Whilst most of my time is spent working and socialising with my colleagues, I still managed to find some time to get out for my favourite hobby – photography!

The first evening I made time to talk a stroll down to the famous San Diego Seaport Village – a beautiful location right on the harbour. I wandered around, enjoying the quaint shops and fresh sea air. As the sun began to set, I realised what a spectacular sight I was about to behold. I didn’t realise at the time, but the sun sets directly over the harbour, and I had a wonderfully clear night to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Just prior to the sunset, I enjoyed walking around the marina taking in the sights of the wonderful boats and incredible light reflecting off the pale blue water.

Then as the sun began to drop, the vibrant colours of the sunset painted the sky with hues of pink, orange, and gold, creating a breathtaking backdrop for the silhouettes of sailboats and yachts in the distance. I found a secluded spot near the water’s edge and sat mesmerised by the serenity of the scene unfolding before me. The fading light bathed the surroundings in a soft, ethereal glow, creating a picture perfect scene of relaxation.

A standard practice at any meetup I attend is to set aside a day for activity day. This is usually a casual activity that takes place in the vicinity of where we are staying and gives us all a chance to get to know each other better in a setting outside of work. For this meetup, we took a road trip up the coast from San Diego – stopping at locations such as Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, La Jolla Cove to see the seals and Torrey Pines Natural Reserve.

The places mentioned in the previous response truly offer an exceptional variety of landscapes and experiences. Sunset Cliffs, with its dramatic coastline, gives a sense of standing at the edge of the world, providing a unique and awe-inspiring backdrop for any visitor.

Then there is La Jolla Cove, where the sandy beaches are teeming with coastal birdlife and seals present a picturesque and lively scene, perfect for observing and capturing the beauty of nature.

Then the pebbled beaches at Torrey Pines offer a different texture and ambiance, adding to the rich tapestry of coastal wonders in the region. Each of these locations promises a distinct and memorable experience, making them truly amazing places to explore and enjoy.
